What’s a fun fact about yourself?

I am the Regional Director for DreamMaker Talent Competition under Star Dance Alliance.

Can you share a memory of Michael?

Once of my favorite memories of Michael is touring with him during the summer, assisting him, and getting to see Moulin Rouge.

Why/when did you start dancing? And why are you still dancing?

I started dancing when I was 3 years old after I attended a “bring your friend to dance” day, and I have been dancing ever since.  I am still dancing today because I love to educate and train students, pushing their limits so that they can achieve all the successes that they have dreamed of. Dance also makes me feel like I have a voice and allows me to share stories through movement.

Do you have any advice for young dancers today?

My biggest piece of advice for young dancers today is to be themselves, and not compare their abilities to other dancers. We were all born with strengths and weaknesses, and we do not need to change to be like someone else. Focus on your strengths, not your weaknesses.

Where do you find inspiration?

I am constantly inspired by eager, young dancers. My favorite quote is, “You have to be inspired to inspire,” and that is what allows me to teach and share my love for dance.

Who is your favorite dancer, company, or choreographer?

My favorite dancer is Robyn Hurder, a Broadway dancer and actor.  When watching her on stage you can tell how much she loves what she does, and she is always pushing her boundaries.

What are you most looking forward to this year at SDC?

I am most looking forward to working with all of the students at SDC, many of which I have not worked with before. I believe in Michael’s mission and vision for SDC, and I am excited to see the growth in the dancers.
